FPDP Recorder and Reproducer
System 2212
The System 2212 is a cost-effective,
state-of-the-art solution to quickly stream data from an FPDP (front panel data
port) interface to a RAID device. Compatible with all industry-standard RAID devices,
the System 2212 offers a flexible, highly modular approach to transmitting data
across historically incompatible devices and can be utilized as a standalone data-streaming
engine or as a system-building core for seismic analysis, SONAR simulation and beam
forming applications.
The modules incorporated in System 2212 include a data-streaming engine, an FPDP
module and a Fiber Channel module. Combined, these boards provide a solution to
a real-time operation that previously required several slots or software-intensive
applications. The data-streaming engine, stacked with the FPDP and Fiber Channel
modules, is housed in a 3U high, 19” VME rack-mount module. Data is streamed to
a D/A card via a FPDP cable that allows streaming functions to occur outside of
the box, thereby freeing the VME bus for higher priority tasks such as powering
and controlling the D/A card.
